Are you pursuing your Passion?

The question might sound too trivial on first thoughts. But come to think of it are we really following what we cherish to pursue? The moment we complete our seconadry education the only thing that ever crosses our mind is Engineering or might be at times Medical. Why? As they are the ones fetching the fat bucks in today's world. Had we given the chance to pursue the subject of our interest without the foreboding thought of our future in mind, Engineering wouldn't have been mocked at as it is being now. Had the story ended here I might have been quite content, but even Engineering is being ripped apart and its pinnacle being fought for. No one looks out for a college offering a branch of his interest rather they look out for a college having a vacancy in any of the branches available. They are quite satisfied if the college has a good repute and the branch a high demand in the market. Who the hell cares whether you are really interested in the career option you choose. You make money and that is what matters.

All's well that ends well, but the trouble begins when things don't go all that smoothly. What if half-way-through you find yourself in the wrong carriage. You are in a situation wherein you can't disembark and the destination is not what you dreamt for. This is when you think of the times in your past when you took the decision. You desperately try to unwind the spool of time and go back to where it all began, but Life does not offer you a second chance. You seem to lose interest in the journey and look out for alternative options, catch sight of MBA and that becomes your dream or better to say, you see to it that that is what you dream for. This is how the country churns out most of the MBAs year after year after year(Now I'm not saying this is the case with all of us but yes it surely is the case with most of us)...

Of course there is also the flip side of the coin to consider. People who do manage to make it big in a field which they never wanted to venture in the first place. Now most of them would once again surely be in the search of more lucrative careers as usual. Some might opt to go abroad and atleast stick to their feilds and do it some justice while the rest suddenly find themselves interested in MBA. The reason being they have long since stopped caring for what is it that Interest them. They are just in the hunt of promising careers that would take them to the high profiles of the society which one craves to be a part of.

In this race to make it big in life we tend to smother our dreams for the sake of our future and get along with the herd. We never really do care if we eventually end up conquering the shrine we set out for. But how many of us really do? All that we do is repent throughout our lives for not having pursued what we cherished for and thus our dream remains still a Dream and our Passions gradually grow of age and subside within us. Are you sure you haven't succumbed to the modern means of making a career, if the answer is Yes, Hats off to you!!! But then are you really sure this is what you wanted?
